George II Walnut Bureau, Circa 1740
An elegant and beautifully figured George II walnut bureau, dating from the mid-18th century and showcasing exceptional walnut veneers throughout. The fall-front opens to reveal a highly attractive fitted interior with a central cupboard, pigeonholes, small drawers and a superbly figured writing surface.
The bureau is constructed with rich walnut veneers displaying striking grain patterns and warm golden-brown colouring. Below are two short and three long graduated drawers fitted with traditional brass swan-neck handles. The piece stands on bracket feet and offers both practical storage and outstanding decorative appeal.
The interior is particularly well-designed, featuring a central cupboard flanked by an arrangement of drawers and shaped pigeonholes, making it ideal for use as a writing desk, study piece, or statement item within a period or contemporary interior.
A fine example of Georgian walnut furniture, combining craftsmanship, functionality and timeless elegance.
