William IV rosewood small one door side cabinet
William IV rosewood small one door side cabinet
NOW SOLD
Here we offer you this William IV rosewood small one door side cabinet, made in the 1830’s.
This cabinet is of a lovely small size, and so would fit into any home.
The top with a lovely rounded moulded edge, in the best Rio Brazilian rosewood.
The panel cupboard door, opens on hinges to reveal an interior with a shelf. This is not only of a great size, but as there is no wasted space this cabinet justifies the space it takes up.
Not only being 100% functional, it is a lovely on the eye.
The rounded corners as well as the colour and quality of the timber used, makes this an exceptional cabinet.
This William IV cabinet stands on well turned solid rosewood feet.
When this fine cabinet was first made, the Slavery Abolition Act 1833, banning slavery in the British Empire, and the Factory Act limiting child labour came into force in Great Britain.
William Lloyd Garrison first published The Liberator, an anti slavery newspaper in Boston, Mass. USA. In 1833 the city of Chicago is established by 350 settlers at the estuary of the Chicago river. On the 14th of November (my birthday, not that year of course!)1832 Charles Carroll the last signer of the Declaration of Independence dies at its home in Maryland aged 95.
