William IV rosewood side cabinet
NOW SOLD
This rosewood side-cabinet-chiffonier would have been made circa 1830, a time when William IV was the monarch of Great Britain.
In this period, rosewood was used as a premium timber for items for the reception areas in the best homes.
As rosewood was a premium timber in quality and cost, it was used only on the best items for the home.
This side-cabinet is fitted a pair of disguised drawers with superb scrolling applied carving, that pull open to reveal the fine quality mahogany drawer linings.
The panel cupboard doors open to reveal an interior with a shelf and storage.
Each door has fine carvings to each corner, to each side of the doors are plain rounded flattened pillars, finishing with carved capitals above.
This sideboard would look fantastic in so many situations in your home. As it has no wasted space, this cabinet needs no justification to purchase.
When this sideboard was first made the newspapers would have been reporting, the Broughton suspension bridge over the River Irwell collapsing under marching troops, Michael Faraday constructs the first Dynamo, Kings College opening, and Charles Darwin leaving Plymouth on the Beagle as he embarked on his epic voyage.
