This Victorian walnut chest of drawers was made circa 1870. NOW SOLD
Burr walnut chests of drawers of this period are rare and were far more expensive to purchase when they were made.
The materials used are top grade, the burr chosen for the drawer fronts and corners is dramatic and the lovely ash used for the drawer linings.
The chest of drawers is fitted a pair of drawers at the top and a further 3 graduated drawers below, all with their original walnut turned knob handles.
The bottom drawer is the cleverly designed deep drawer, that is disguised at the front to look a perfect graduation but carries on into the plinth. A very good design feature, to allow for total capacity but without losing the aesthetics of its appearance on the outside.
