This Edwardian mahogany desk chair with leather hide seat and back rest, was made circa 1900, NOW SOLD
The desk chair is of tub shape with the frame being made of high-grade mahogany. Running around the tub shape are decorative square spindles. The arms to the front are swept forward with panels of decorative bell-flower carving that give the chair even more interest.
The front square tapering legs have channelled reeds down to the original castors.
It is upholstered in Grade 1 English hide. Our specialist upholsterers covered this in fine hide before then hand-dying it and then starting the long process of building the wonderful antique finish.
Around the borders of the leather are hundreds of brass headed securing studs, each are tapped in individually which is not only a skilled job but takes a lot of patience.
