Antique Coromandel wood fitted box
We are delighted to offer you this Antique Coromandel wood fitted box. NOW SOLD
Originally made circa 1830 by a top craftsman and then to be sold by a exclusive retailer of the day.
Made of Coromandel (Also known as Calamander)a wood that is of a hazel-brown colour, with black stripes. The wood grows in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon)
As we experience now, in the early 19thc this timber was a very prized and expensive commodity.
The box is bound with quadrant brass edging and then a double string of brass line decorative inlay.
The lid lifts to reveal a lined and fitted interior, the front drop down to also reveal a drawer with a flush handle.
There is also a button to release a secret drawer, that is below the drawer behind the drop front.
This is of fantastic quality and would suit many purposes in your life.
