Georgian style mahogany twin pillar dining table NOW SOLD
Georgian style mahogany twin pillar dining table NOW SOLD
This very attractive mahogany twin pillar dining table would have been made in the first quarter of the 20th century.
The table top with rounded ends and an extra central leaf that is secured by brass table forks. The table stands on 2 tripod pillar bases that have the classic brass cap toes with wheel castors below.
The top is 18th century mahogany taken from large drop-flap dining tables that had become redundant due to their impracticability at those times. The cabinetmaker would have selected the timber for its warmth of colour and the quality of timber. The top would then have been fashioned to shape before being secured to the superb twin pillar bases that he had made. Once the top had been fitted the table would have been prepared and polished for use.
We have now brought the table back to its original state by re-polishing it in own workshop and in the traditional manner, by hand with no spraying or lacquers used.
228cms long fully extended with leaf (90ins)
107cms wide (42ins)
172cms closed without leaf (68ins)
73cms high (28 3/4 ins)
